Kudos: Double Distinction for
Don
Reiber
Spring 2007 brought significant
recognition for one of the most valued members of the department – Don
Reiber.
In early April,
Don received the Lancelot C. A. Thompson Award for his years of service
to students. The Thompson Award was “established to recognize a
full-time faculty or staff member of the University of Toledo who
represents what it means to be student focused in their duties and who
excels in providing services to students. What makes this award special
is that it is totally run by students. Students both nominate and
select the recipient.”
We are very
proud of Don’s achievement, but just two weeks later, he was also named
a UT Outstanding Teacher for 2006-2007. This special distinction is one
of the most prestigious teaching awards the students of the university
bestow.
The Department of Communication congratulates Don on these
accomplishments. We are honored to have him as a member of our faculty.
About Us
Our department
is one of 18 departments in the College of Arts and
Sciences at The University of Toledo. The Department has one of the
highest student enrollments in the College, averaging 500-600 majors in
its four undergraduate areas of study. Its full-time faculty have
expertise in areas of journalism, broadcasting, public relations, and
interpersonal and business communication.
Our department is committed to
instruction that responsibly blends theory and professional practice
skills. Through our classwork and our facilities, we're dedicated to
challenging our students and preparing them for productive futures in a
changing technology-based work environment. Our television studio and
production area are housed at Media
Services in Rocket Hall on
the southwest side of campus. Media
Services oversees the studio along with producing award-winning media
for video, television, and the web. The department's many alumni occupy
positions in the community and around the world in media, business,
academic and many other kinds of organizations.
